What is keyword density?
Keyword density is the share of a page's words taken up by one word or phrase. If a term appears 10 times in 500 words, its density is 2%. The figure was once treated as a target. Today it is useful as a diagnostic: it shows what a page is really about, and whether a term is used so often that the text reads badly.
This tool counts words in the main content only. Navigation, header, footer and forms are left out, and common words such as "the" and "and" are not ranked.
Is there an ideal keyword density?
No. Google has said plainly that it has no ideal percentage. Search engines look at meaning: related terms, synonyms and whether the page covers the topic. Repeating one phrase to reach a number is keyword stuffing, which Google's spam policies describe as a reason to rank a page lower.
As a rule of thumb, natural writing keeps a main term under about 3 to 4%. More useful than the percentage is placement: use the phrase once in the title, the H1 and the opening paragraph, then write for the reader. The two- and three-word tables show the phrases your page actually emphasises, which is often a surprise.

The target keyword does not appear at all
The page may be about something slightly different from what you intended. Rewrite the title, H1 and introduction around the phrase people search for.
Very few words were analysed
