What is an on-page SEO audit?
On-page SEO is everything you control inside a page: the title and description search engines show, the headings that organise the text, the images, the links, and the technical signals that tell a crawler whether it may index the page. An audit reads the page the way a crawler does and compares each element with what search engines document as good practice.
This checker downloads the HTML of the URL you enter, follows any redirects, and runs more than forty checks against it. Each finding is marked as a pass, a warning or a problem, with a short explanation of why it matters and what to change. The score is the share of checks passed, with warnings counting half.
How to use the results
Start with the problems at the top. A page that is set to noindex, has no title or returns the wrong canonical will not rank however good the content is, so those come first. Then work through the warnings group by group.
Add a target keyword to see whether it appears in the title, description, H1, URL and opening paragraph, and how often it is used in the body. For a closer look at one area, open the dedicated tool: the Title Tag Checker, the Link Checker (which tests every link, something the audit skips for speed) or the Core Web Vitals Checker.
How to use the On-Page SEO Checker
- Enter the address of the page you want to check. You can leave out
https://. - Optionally add the keyword you want the page to rank for.
- Press Audit page. The page is fetched from our servers, the way a search engine crawler would fetch it.
- Read the findings from top to bottom: problems first, then warnings. Each one says what to change.
Common problems and how to fix them
The audit shows very little text
The checker reads the HTML your server sends. If content is injected by JavaScript after load, it is missing from that HTML. Render the main content on the server, or pre-render the page, so crawlers get it on the first request.
A page that should rank is marked noindex
Look for a robots meta tag in the template and an X-Robots-Tag header in the server or CDN configuration. Staging settings carried into production are the usual cause.
The score is high but the page does not rank
On-page checks confirm that nothing is technically wrong. Ranking also depends on how well the content answers the search, on links from other sites and on competition. Use the audit to remove obstacles, then compare your content with the pages that rank.
